Postdoc
2015 PhD (Engineering), Tokyo Denki University
Atsushi Takano is a DManD Postdoctoral Fellow supervised by Prof. Michinao Hashimoto. Before coming Hashimoto's LAB, he was postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Nobuyuki Futai's LAB at Shibaura Institute of Technology (Japan). He received PhD degree at Tokyo Denki University (Japan) under Prof. Masato Tanaka.
Jon Yi Hoo
Research Assistant
2019 Bachelor (Food Technology), University of Queensland
Jon Yi is a research assistant in Prof. Michinao’s research group. Her research would focus on 3D printing of food materials. Ideally to create a range of food prints suitable for elderly patients in the hospital, to meet their dietary needs and requirements. Research and development of food ingredients and products are areas that interest her, including sensory science correlating with consumer acceptance. With some industrial and research experience, her goal is to improve on food sustainability and create changes with her research.
Jason Goh
PhD Candidate
2011 B.Sc. Hons (Pharmacology), University of Queensland
Wei Huang Goh (Jason) research areas focus on improving pharmacological outcomes by enhancing drug formulation and/or engineering approaches and to develop robust and relevant invitro and invivo models to evaluate therapeutics. He received a BSc degree, double major in Genetics and Pharmacology (2010) and a first class honours degree in Pharmacology from the University of Queensland (2011) where he studied and characterized novel therapeutics in a rodent model of Painful Diabetic Neuropathy. After graduation, he spent two years at the Centre for Integrated Preclinical Drug Development at UQ looking at Pharmacodynamics of novel analgesics in rodent models of Pain and analytical evaluation of pain therapeutics. Thereafter he spent another two years developing rodent models of cancer to evaluate novel anticancer therapeutics and the analytical evaluation and optimization of these therapeutics at the Drug Development Unit based at Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology, A*star. Jason is currently a PhD student at SUTD and is working at the interface of bioengineering and pharmacology to advance drug delivery technology at Hashimoto’s Laboratory.
James Ng
PhD Candidate
2013 M.Sc. (Biomedical Engineering), Nanyang Technological University
James Ng is a Ph.D. student in Hashimoto group. He was previously a research associate in Prof. Xu Chenjie's Lab at Nanyang Technological University.
Pravien Parthiban Ph.D.
Postdoc
2015 Postdoc Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMART)
2013 Ph.D. (Chemical Engineering), National University of Singapore
Pravien is a SUTD-MIT Postdoctoral Fellow supervised jointly by Prof. Michinao Hashimoto at SUTD and Prof. Patrick Doyle at MIT. His research interests encompass the areas of microscale transport processes and soft-matter physics. As a SUTD-MIT postdoctoral fellow he aims to develop facile methods to precisely engineer multiphase, multicomponent, and multifunctional hierarchical materials. Furthermore, he aims to translate such methods for the rational design food structures for nutrition, health and wellness.
Pravien received a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering at Anna University (India) before moving to Singapore in 2006 to pursue his PhD at National University of Singapore under the guidance of Prof. Saif A Khan. During his PhD he worked on elucidating the complex multi-scale dynamics of bubbles and droplets in prototypical microfluidic networks. After finishing his PhD he worked as a researcher at the Singapore-MIT Alliance, NUS where he was interested in understanding and predicting the self-assembly of complex structures during evaporation of colloidal drops. Herein he was jointly supervised by Prof. Saif A. Khan and Prof. Reginald Thio.
