Rahul Karyappa Ph.D.
2015 Ph.D. (Chemical Engineering), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay

Rahul is a DManD Postdoctoral Research Fellow supervised by Prof Michinao Hashimoto. His research interests are in issues related to Fluids. He aims to develop new 3D printing techniques by dispensing of fluids which will add creativity, clarity and most importantly versatility in 3D fabrication of individual hard as well as soft materials and multimaterials. He intends to work with thermoplastics (hard), polysiloxanes (soft), hydrogels, ceramics, glass etc. In this process, he aims to design and develop advanced materials for various applications which can add tailored functionalities to the materials. Rahul received a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering at Shivaji University (India) and Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering (Chemical Plant Design) from National Institute of Technology Karnataka, India. after this he joined National Chemical Laboratory as a project assistant to work on Monte Carlo (MC) and Molecular Dynamics (MD) studies of Polymers in solution. Following this he worked as a Research Fellow and a Lecturer at Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune, India. His interest in research made him to pursue his PhD at Indian Institute of Technology under the guidance of Prof. Rochish Thaokar. During his PhD he worked on Electrohydrodynamics of Drops and Microcapsules. After finishing his PhD he worked as a Sr. Research Scientist at Reliance Industries Limited, India where he learned the skills of Project Management and Data Analytics.
