About Me
My first name is Kai Fong Ernest, and my last name is Chong. Informally, I go by the shorter name Ernest Chong. I received my PhD in Mathematics from Cornell University in August 2015, and my advisor was Edward Swartz.
Currently, I am an Associate Professor with tenure in the Information Systems Technology and Design (ISTD) pillar at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). I also serve as the undergraduate chair of the ISTD pillar.
Before joining SUTD, I was a research scientist in the Data Analytics Department at the Institute for Infocomm Research, a research institute within the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), and I was also an adjunct assistant professor in the Division of Mathematical Sciences at Nanyang Technological University.
During SUTD's five-year growth plan in research and education (2018–2023) (see media release here), I was SUTD's thrust lead for the "Fundamentals and Theory of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Systems", a thrust within the AI/Data Science sector of the growth plan. We are always on the lookout for industry stakeholders who would like to recruit talented SUTD students.
