Our laboratory focuses on interdisciplinary research that is centered upon fundamental investigations on dynamical systems and optimal control with emphasis on modeling, simulation, optimization and design of electro-mechanical systems.
David Braun (PI) is Assistant Professor at Singapore University of Technology and Design. He holds a Ph.D. (’06-’09) in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, USA. Prior to joining SUTD, he was affiliated with the Center for Intelligent Mechatronics (CIM) at Vanderbilt, conducted research at the Institute for Robotics and Mechatronics at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Statistical Machine Learning and Motor Control Group, School of Informatics, at the University of Edinburgh.
Vincent Chalvet is a Postdoctoral research fellow at the Dynamics and Control Laboratory at Singapore University of Technology and Design. He obtained his Engineering Diploma in Mechatronics from the National Engineering Institute, France, in 2008 and the Ph.D. degree in Automatic Control from the University of Franche-Comté in 2013. Prior to joining SUTD he was a postdoctoral research fellow at the CNRS FEMTO-ST Institute where he worked on the design, fabrication, and control of micro electro-mechanical systems.

Farnaz Adib Yaghmaie is a Postdoctoral research fellow at the Dynamics and Control Laboratory at Singapore University of Technology and Design. She received her B.S. and M.S degrees in Electrical Engineering-Control at K.N. Toosi University of Technology, Tehran, Iran in 2009 and 2011 respectively. She received her PhD degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore in 2016. She won the best thesis award of school of EEE-NTU for her PhD thesis, “output regulations of multi-agent systems”, among more than 140 PhD students. She is also the recipient of SPGF, SINGA, and PEDSCT best paper awards.

Yuqing Chen is a PhD student at the Dynamic and Control Lab at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). He received his Bachelor’s degree in control science and engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT). Prior to joining SUTD, he was a postgraduate student in control and simulation center of HIT where he worked on control system designs.

Evrim Selin Altinkaynak is a PhD student at the Dynamic and Control Lab at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). She received her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Izmir Institute of Technology, Turkey in 2015. She has done her internships in top companies such as Vestel and Aselsan. At Aselsan she worked on the control of radars used in the military. She received a full scholarship from TEV-SINGA for her PhD in SUTD.

Yangzhi Li is a PhD student at the Dynamics and Control Lab at Singapore University of Technology and Design. He was an undergraduate student at SUTD, where he gained experiences working on electric vehicles, autonomous marine vehicles, and variable stiffness actuators.
He is pursuing a Joint Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering between Singapore University of Technology and Design (PhD advisor: Prof. Braun) and the National University of Singapore (PhD co-advisory: Prof. Yu ) with a full scholarship. He is interested in mechanical design, system control, and mathematical modelling.

Lau Hong Fai (Justin) is a research assistant in the Dynamics and Control Lab at SUTD. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Product Development from SUTD where he specialized in Mechanical Engineering. His is currently developing a novel compliant actuator for a next generation exoskeleton technology.

Amanda Sutrisno I am a research assistant at the Dynamics and Controls lab at SUTD, graduated from Engineering Product Development at SUTD where I specialized in physics and electrical/software engineering. Currently I work on the electronics and the control of a novel exoskeleton device.
